Petrography is a microscopy method particularly suited to the examination of construction materials such as concrete, mortar, stucco, and stone. Highbridge uses petrography and chemical analysis in conjunction or individually to address a wide variety of questions in concrete and masonry construction. Our services are frequently used to identify original components and mix proportions, assess the quality of materials and workmanship, investigate causes of cracking and judge the durability of concrete or masonry in its particular service environment. Highbridge also uses petrography and chemistry to compare materials against ASTM or project specifications. Our staff are experts in both contemporary and historic construction materials and practices.
